We are definitely into countdown now and many of you have been asking for the blog address for this adventure so I figured I'd better get to it and create one! :-)
This blog will feature four Grandma's in search of adventure in Southeast Asia. It's the same four grandmas who left their mark in Tanzania and Zanzibar a couple of years ago (lorrieinafrica.blogspot.com in case you missed joining us on that journey). We call ourselves Darlorlynga (Darlene, Lorrie, Lynda, and Gail) for the purposes of these adventure blogs and if you're planning to join in on this one it will be more of the same.....culture, food, fun, friends, lots of laughs and some great great memories.
Our journey will begin in Penticton, Canada this Sunday morning as the four of us begin the trip that will take us through Hong Kong and into Vietnam and Laos. After the 5 week mark, two of our group will bid us farewell as they head for home and the other two of us will continue on through Cambodia and Thailand for another 5 weeks. (At that point our name will have to change to "double L" for Lorrie and Lynda). There will be boats and planes and trains and cars for sure and my hunch is that there will be some other modes of local travel in the mix too. Wahoo! I can already feel the wind whipping past me as I hang on to some stranger for dear life perched on the back of his motorbike. :-) Don't worry too much though friends....the wind feels like its whipping past when you're barely even moving! LOL!
I'll do my best to capture the highlights (especially the funnier moments) and blog most days but in truth we might not have access to WiFi every day so posting might be a little more sporadic. For those of you who've followed along with my blogs before you will already know that this blog will be a veritable book so if you miss a few days you might find yourself with some serious reading to do. Don't despair though....you can go back and read the bits you missed any time you'd like. In fact just the other day I had someone ask me for one of my old blog addresses as they're planning a trip and wanted to use the blog as a reference for some of the things they want to see and do. So for those of you who are interested....I always use the same format "lorriein______.blogspot.com". The list of blogs is getting pretty long and you should be able to find a link to all of them from this blog but if you can't and if you have a serious desire to get some reading in over the winter ....don't despair you can always message me and I'll be happy to give you the list of addresses.
